About
MUFG Investor Services is the fund administration business of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group. It provides middle and back-office services to around 500 alternative investment managers, from hedge funds to private equity, and passed $1 trillion in assets under administration in 2024.

My role
I first joined in 2020 as a freelance consultant, brought in to review the user experience and refine key journeys in an investment application. The role quickly expanded and I became Lead Product Designer, overseeing UX and UI from the ground up: translating complex requirements into wireframes and building a full design system now used across multiple applications. In 2023 I returned as Senior Associate Director, Product Design, building on those foundations and overseeing design and standards across multiple areas of the business.

Approach
This became a multi-year project as the portal grew in size and scope. New features and refinements came directly from client feedback and requests, so the design was never finished: it evolved alongside the product. A shared design system was what made that pace possible, giving developers consistent, reusable patterns rather than one-off screens.
